Target notifications allow you to define specific goals over a selected period and get notified when those targets are not achieved.
These notifications help you track essential environmental parameters, such as temperature, humidity, or PAR, over daily, weekly, or custom time intervals. By automatically tracking and comparing data to your desired conditions, you can receive timely alerts when targets aren't met—allowing you to act quickly and keep your crops on track without constant manual monitoring.
Setting up target notifications
Follow these simple steps to set up target notifications in the 30MHz platform:
-
Navigate to Notifications
- In the dashboard, click on the Notifications tab located in the main menu.
-
Create a new notification
- Select + New notification to start.
- Choose the sensor or sensor group you wish to monitor.
-
Select ‘Set target over time’
- In the notification settings, choose Set target over time.
- This option lets you define a target condition based on averages or sums over a selected period.
-
Set the conditions
- Specify the target you want to monitor. See examples of here.
- Choose the period for which you want the target to be monitored: this can be anything from a minute to a month's time.
-
Save and Activate
- Review the settings and click Save to activate the notification.
-
Define notification preferences
- Click on the newly created notification
- Choose how you’d like to be notified (email or SMS).
- Add colleagues to receive these notifications as well. You can also only send a notification to them, and opt out yourself.
The notification is now set up!
When will you receive this notification?
The frequency of target notifications depends on the time period you set. Here's what you can expect:
- Daily targets: Checked hourly, so you can adjust quickly if conditions fall short.
- Weekly targets: Checked once per day, ensuring you stay informed without being overwhelmed.
- Monthly targets: Checked weekly, giving you a snapshot of how you're progressing toward long-term goals.
By receiving alerts at these intervals, you’ll always have enough time to react, without getting bombarded by emails or texts.
How to use target notifications?
By setting up target notifications, you can outsource an important part of climate management that you're currently doing in your head: reviewing the (average) conditions and determining if you're still on track.
Some examples of valuable use cases:
-
Monitoring temperature over time:
Set up a notification when the weekly average temperature exceeds a certain number. If the average climbs above your threshold, you’ll be alerted, allowing you to make timely adjustments to heating, ventilation, or irrigation. -
PAR sum notifications:
Set a target for a daily cumulative PAR sum. If the daily PAR sum is too low, you can quickly adjust your lighting plan to ensure your crops get enough light. Or, set a high limit to prevent potential damage from overexposure. -
Humidity management:
Keep track of weekly average humidity to prevent plant diseases. If the humidity fluctuates outside your preferred range, you’ll get a notification and can act before conditions worsen.
