Security of the physical wireless network
Wireless communication within the physical network is done with a proprietary protocol. Currently the communication occurs one way: the sensors send their data to the gateway, which sends it to the cloud platform via an Internet connection.
The sensor devices communicate exclusively with the gateway to send sensing data, eventually “hopping” through repeaters.
The gateway has a connection to the Internet and sends the sensor data up to the cloud platform. This communication is performed over SSL for encryption. The access that is needed (important to know in case of using a Firewall for example) is detailed in our documentation .
The wireless communication within the mesh network is encrypted with 128-bit AES encryption. We configure both the gateway and sensors with a network id and a private key. For every network of every customer we use different network ids and keys. This means that even if the data is intercepted it cannot be read since it is encrypted with secret keys.
